Present simple | English tenses


The Moon goes round the Earth.

The present tense is the base form of the verb:

I work in New York.

She | He | It (the third person singular) , we add an –s:

He works in Paris

We use do and does to make questions

does for he|she|it and do for the others.

use do or does with question words like when, what and where

Where do Jennifer and Lucy live?:

questions with who often don't use do or does:

Who lives in New York?

use do and does to make negatives with the present simple. We use doesn't for he,she,it and don't for the others.

Use

- something that is true in the present.

She needs help right now.

- something that happens regularly in the present.

She never forgets his wallet.

- something that is always true.

New York is in America.
